| How to become a red cross member |

Macedonian Red Cross operates in the Republic of Macedonia through the network of 34 Red Cross Branches and the City Red Cross of Skopje.
Each citizen of our country who is interested to participate in the implementation of the activities of Macedonian Red Cross may do that by visiting one of our Red Cross branches where he/she can obtain more detailed information about all activities that are implemented in the Red Cross Branches and to decide in which activity he/she is interested to participate. The rights, obligations and termination of the membership in Macedonian Red Cross is regulated by the Macedonian Red Cross Statutes. The provisions in the Statutes related to becoming a Red Cross member state as follows: Article 10 Membership in MRC is voluntary and is open to all. A member of MRC can be each person citizen who accepts these Statutes and voluntarily signs admission statement. The member of the Red Cross possesses a membership card. The form and content of the admission statement and the membership card are defined with an act of the Executive Board of the Assembly of MRC. Article 11 The members of the Red Cross can be: • Active members; • Members subscribers; • Honorary members; • Patrons. Active members are persons who are actively involved in the Red Cross work and who pay annual membership fee. Subscribers are members who pay annual membership fee. Honorary members are persons from the public life of the Republic of Macedonia and abroad, who by their voluntary work and merit, and donations, make special contribution to the development of the MRC and are proclaimed as honorary members by the Executive Board of MRC. A patron is a public person appointed by the Executive Board, who continuously supports the national society. Other persons as well, may volunteer in the activities of the Red Cross. Article 12 The members have the following obligations: • to adhere and disseminate the Fundamental Principles; • to promote the MRC work; • to recognize and obey the Statutes, including the duty to respect and help protect the emblem; • to pay an annual membership fee; • to participate actively in the work of the National Society. Article 13 The members of the MRC have the following rights: • to be trained to perform concrete tasks of the Organization; • to participate in the work of the Organization; • to elect and be elected in the organs and bodies of the Organization; • to present proposals and raise issues with any authority in the National Society. Article 14 The Red Cross membership ceases: • with submission of a written notice for resignation; • with non-payment of the annual membership fee, unless the subscription is renewed for which purpose the subscription member shall receive a reminder one month before expiry of the current year; • with expelling. Article 15 The Red Cross Branch expels a member from membership in the following cases: • in case of violation of the Fundamental Principles of the Movement; • for disrespect of the MRC Statutes; • misuse of the Red Cross emblem; • participation in activities that cause harm to the image or cause damage to MRC activities. In cases of minor violations, the Red Cross member receives a warning and last warning before expulsion. The Red Cross member has the right to appeal against the declared measure to the Executive Board of MRC. Article 16 The procedure for expulsion from membership in the Organization, the declared measures and the right to appeal is regulated by a special act passed by the MRC Assembly. |
