Establishment of a framework for future cooperation

rikerOn November 25th, the ambassador of the United States of America, Philip T. Reeker, made a working visit to Macedonian Red Cross. The objective of the meeting was obtaining information about the operation of the national society and establishment of a framework for future humanitarian cooperation.

Macedonian Red Cross presented the overall activities of the organization and the ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation with Macedonian Red Cross and expressed interest for promotion of the joint activities between the embassy and the national society particularly in the area of organizing another blood donation action for the staff of the US embassy in the year to come as well as promotion of cooperation through joint actions of the Macedonian Red Cross branches and the Peace Corps through the US embassy and other humanitarian initiatives that will arise in the forthcoming period.


During the presentation of Macedonian Red Cross activities it was emphasized that the national society is significantly contributing for the promotion of democratic values in the Republic of Macedonia and the methods that are used in the operation enable independent work, impartiality and protection of the integrity of the national society and the contribution of Macedonian Red Cross on international plan as well as the activities undertaken by the organization for recruitment of new volunteers in Macedonia. The Secretary General Saiti expressed gratitude for the continuous support of the of the United States of America which was provided through the American Red Cross in form of assistance for different vulnerable groups in the Republic of Macedonia as well as for the institutional support for Macedonian Red Cross in the period of 1999-2003. The ambassador and his colleagues emphasized that they are pleasantly surprised with the professionalism and the achievements of Macedonian Red Cross and expressed preparedness for further cooperation with the national society.

In frames of the working visit, the ambassador Philip T. Reeker, on behalf of the American Red Cross, received the highest award – Golden Medal of Macedonian Red Cross. The award for the American Red Cross was given in compliance with the decision of the Executive Board of Macedonian Red Cross Assembly, passed on November 13, 2009 for outstanding contribution of the American Red Cross for the institutional development of Macedonian Red Cross and the provided support for the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia. The medal was awarded in presence of several media from the state. On the press conference organized on this occasion, the US ambassador and the Macedonian Red Cross Secretary General addressed the present explaining the objective of the visit of the US ambassador and emphasized the fruitful cooperation between Macedonian Red Cross and the American Red Cross.
