Youth fighting against human trafficking

slMacedonian Red Cross in frames of the project: “Youth fighting against human trafficking”, supported by OSCE mission in Skopje, held a coordination meeting on December 22, 2009 in order to evaluate the project activities with the representatives of the trained teams from 12 Macedonian Red Cross branches and the City Red Cross of Skopje.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the accomplished results and the effects from the implemented activities, and to provide guidelines for future activities on local level.

The participants on the meeting had an opportunity to hear more about the field activities implemented in compliance with the plans for action for the period October – December 2009

134 training sessions were organized within the project activities covering 3.315 students from 34, pupils from 57 primary schools, 12 youth clubs of Red Cross Branches and the City red Cross of Skopje, youth from the Centre for support for asylum seekers in Shuto Orizari, The Home for children without parental care, “DUCOR Partenie Zoografski”, and youth from other associations of citizens.

The conclusions derived from the positive experiences, and from specific challenges that youth is facing in the field, represent a good base for capacity building and development within these programme activities of the Red Cross which will be implemented in the forthcoming period.

Macedonian Red Cross, as a serious partner of the state in the area of implementation of preventive activities for fights against human trafficking will continue undertaking efforts for capacity building of the national society and raising awareness of the young population on protection from human trafficking.
